[Be a Kikay] Style Korean’s K-Beauty Box # 1 First Impressions Review

For the past year I’ve been dabbling a lot with skincare specifically k-beauty. I’ve tried numerous products to help improve the condition of my skin and these products can sometimes be pricey. So when the opportunity arises that I can test out several items at a bargain I go for it. I usually buy beauty boxes which contains different types of beauty products for a bargain. I’ve bought several beauty boxes from Althea Korea but it’s my first time to buy from a different site, Style Korean.

It seems that this is their first beauty box for sale. I’ve seen them having a recruitment for several review boxes but I never was lucky enough to get drawn. This K-Beauty Box has a mix of make-up and skincare items, and has a combined product value of $65 but you only have to pay $15 for the box.

I bought the beauty box and several other items from Style Korean to reach $50 in order to qualify for free shipping to the Philippines and after a week the beauty box arrived! Here’s a first impression review on the items in the box.

(Vlog Version which shows some clips for application and first impressions of the product.)

1. [W.Dressroom] Dress & Living Clear Perfume No.97 (April Cotton)

Just getting this out of the way, I did not actually try this product because I’m planning to give it to someone else. Nevertheless I’m still pretty excited about this product since it’s the same perfume BTS’ Jungkook got during their Christmas exchange gift during a Vlive back in 2016.

2. [Thank You Farmer] Back to Iceland Cleansing Water

[Thank You Farmer] Back to Iceland Cleansing Water-1.jpg

First Impressions:

Personally I think this product oversold itself. It claims to be a no-wash cleanser which also has a “make-up cleansing effect” (which I assume means it can remove make-up) thus removing the need for double cleansing. I tried to remove my make-up (foundation, a bit of eyeshadow, and mascara) using this product and I wasn’t surprised to see that it wasn’t that effective in removing my make-up especially my mascara which is waterproof. I didn’t really feel like my make-up was removed properly nor was my face clean so I still ended up double cleansing after using this product.

Rating: I gave it 3-stars because I think it’s an okay product especially if you don’t wear make-up. I think I can find use it for my lazy days when I’m just at home all day and need only minimal facial cleansing.

3. [Laneige] Water Sleeping Mask

[Laneige] Water Sleeping Mask-1.jpg

First Impressions:

It was my first time using a sleeping mask because I’ve always had this preconceived notion about sleeping masks and its consistency. I thought that it would be runny and icky much like after having a sheet mask on. I normally cover my face with a pillow or blanket when I sleep so with that in mind I feel like sleeping masks won’t work for me.

I still decided to try this product and was amazed by the consistency and how well it was absorbed by my skin. It might just be this sleeping mask but it wasn’t as runny/watery as I expected. It had a stiff gel like consistency which was quickly absorbed by my skin. It didn’t cause any irritation or break outs which tends to happen to me when I use too much moisturizing products, and my skin felt soft the next day. Plus a small amount of product goes a long way

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for me.

4. [Heimish] pH 5.5 All Clean Green Foam

[Heimish] pH 5.5 All Clean Green Foam -1.jpg

First Impressions:

One of my faults testing multiple products at a time is that sometimes I tend to overlook some products, like this Heimish All Clean Green Foam. It didn’t really stand out that much.

I used this during the double cleansing I performed after I used the Thank You Farmer Cleansing Water. I’m used to washing with Neogen’s Foam Cleanser which is really foamy. For this product it comes out in a gel like consistency and you have to gently rub across your face for the foam to come out. After washing the product off you get a squeaky clean feeling over your skin.

Rating: I’m leaning towards 3 stars but I feel I need to use the product a couple of more times to feel confident about my rating for it.

5. [Labiotte] Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint #CR01 (Rose Coral)

[Labiotte] Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip Tint #CR01 (Rose Coral)-1.jpg

First Impressions:

This has a watery consistency and smooth to apply. The tint looks very natural and doesn’t feel dry. It’s really amazing because it doesn’t feel like you put anything on but the color is there.

Rating: 4 stars for now. I still need to see how long lasting this tint is but so far the formula is really great.

6. [Benton] Fermentation Eye Cream

[Benton] Fermentation Eye Cream-1.jpg

First Impressions:

This product is the reason why I really wanted to buy this box. I’ve seen great reviews about this eye cream but I always felt that it was too expensive for me to buy. Immediately after trying this product I observe that the fine lines near my eyes were less visible. I’ve went on a used the product consistently and it has continued to improve texture of the skin around my eyes. My only complaint is the consistency of the product which was a little dry making it a bit hard applying the product. Instead of patting the cream around the under-eye area, I kind of have to rub down the product or like apply a bit of force for it to stick which I don’t really like doing because it generates friction to the under-eye area which isn’t recommended. I’m not sure if it’s just the product that I got because I did try watching other reviews to see the consistency of the product and it looked like a normal eye cream consistency.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 because of the unfavorable consistency but the product really works great for the lines around the eye area.

7. [CosRX] Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion

[CosRX] Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion-1.jpg

First Impressions:

I used this product on the same night that I tried the Huxley sheet mask and because of how amazing the sheet mask was the lotion was a bit overshadowed. The CosRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion has a gel like liquid-y consistency. It feels like a thin layer of lotion on your skin but feels more moisturizing than those thin hand lotions that I’ve tried before.

In terms of absorption into the skin, it’s just moderate and it’s not the type that feels like there’s nothing on your skin. You do still feel a thin layer of it.

It might be a bit shallow of me but I kind of don’t appreciate how it smells like. It smells like a tree probably because of the birch sap. (I don’t know)

Rating: 3.5 for now. I’m still waiting for a chance to see how if fairs out in terms of treating irritated skin. If it does good I’ll most surely give it a four.

8. [Huxley] Mask; Oil and Extract

[Huxley] Mask; Oil and Extract-1.jpg

First Impressions

Sheet masks used to be the one of the products that I used daily but overtime I swapped them for other types of masks (wash-off, peel-off, etc.) Nowadays I prefer using sheet masks as a quick booster for my skin if I want it to look extra special the following days or in the coming days and I think Huxley’s sheet mask is the perfect mask for that purpose. The day after using the product my face was soft and moisturized. It didn’t have dry patches around my cheeks or nose area the entire day even if I didn’t use moisturizer (I often skip on skincare steps like moisturizing during my lazy days at home) which I normally have.

In terms of using this product, it’s quite different from the normal sheet mask because there’s a part of the mixture that’s separated from the mask. I had a bit of a hard time popping the area where the oil is in order to it to mix with the mask. I’m not really sure why they have to be separated.

The sheet mask itself was a great fit to my face and had a smooth texture. When I took it off after 20 minutes, I really liked that the product was quickly absorbed by my skin (one of the reasons I stopped using sheet masks daily is because it takes some time for the product to be absorbed by my skin, lengthening my already long skincare routine)

Rating: This product is amazing and smells great but the price is just too much for one time use, 4 out 5 stars. Just because of the price. If I was rich it probably wouldn’t be that big of a deal breaker for me.

9. [Heimish] Artless Glow Base SPF 50+ PA+++

[Heimish] Artless Glow Base SPF 50+ PA+++-1.jpg

First Impressions:

I don’t usually put on a primer or base makeup aside from the occasional foundation and concealer when I need my face to look even. So my main concern when trying this product is how much do I want to keep on using this? or do I really want to incorporate this to my daily make-up routine.

Bottom line is no. But mainly due to my personal preferences. Let me start with the good parts, I like that this already has SPF 50 so I can skip that layer of sunscreen. It was light weight and didn’t make my face oily after having it on all day at work. My concealer went on better than usual as well.

The primer made my face shimmer and “glow”. However I prefer a smooth matte or semi-matte finish for everyday look.

Rating: This was a bit hard to decide. 3.5 because it’s good but it’s not really my style

Overall I didn’t really feel that the overall value of the box is $65 but still it was a good bargain to get to try all these good products for $15.

Last words about my first impressions of the product, my opinion on the products mentioned might change after using the product more so I’ll try and update the review accordingly. 🙂 And my experience might be different from yours due to varying reasons such as skin type and sensitivity, personal preferences, etc. so please take that into consideration when reading my review.
